Working Together
The Weight of Multiple Stressors
Many people come to therapy because they are overwhelmed by "too much" hitting them at the same time. You might be struggling with some form of depression, anxiety, or trauma, while also trying to cope with the daily pressures of work, family, and survival.
-
The "Packed" Life: I strive to understand how these multiple stressors have packed themselves into your life. When you are dealing with several things at once, it’s natural to feel like you’ve lost your footing.
-
Externalizing the Problem: It is important to remember: The anxiety is the problem. The depression is the problem. The stress is the problem. YOU are not the problem. I help you separate your identity from these weights so we can look at them clearly.
Collaboration & Real-World Tools
I don’t believe in giving people a "prescription" for how to live their lives.
-
Providing Options: I may discuss with you some strategies that you might find helpful in coping and dealing with these things.
-
Testing it Out: My approach is simple: "Here's something. Think about it. Let me know if it's helpful to you." We work together to assess what actually fits your reality.
The Search for Exceptions
Even when you are overwhelmed, there are moments when things were different.
-
Identifying Exceptions: We will look for the moments when the multiple stressors didn't win—the times you managed, the times you stood your ground, or the times things felt lighter.
-
Building on Strength: We find those moments of success and build on them, using your own real-world experiences as the blueprint for your future.
Neurodivergence & Inherited History
-
ADHD & Trauma: I strive to understand how your history and your unique brain interact with the world. We look at the history you carry from your family and community to see how it shapes your present.
-
Internalized Narratives: We dismantle the "not good enough" stories forced on you by the world, your community, or those around you.
Supporting the Supporters
-
Loved Ones & Caretakers: Dedicated support for those who are the "pillars" for others—especially those supporting partners or family members with ADHD, Neurodivergence, or Trauma.
